7th Minister Krzysztof Skubiszewski’s Symposium : Euro as Polish raison d’etat | Photos

7th Minister Krzysztof Skubiszewski’s Symposium titled Euro as Polish raison d’etat took place on March 21st in Kazimierz Palace in Warsaw. The event was organised by Institute of International Relations University of Warsaw and Krzysztof Skubiszewski Foundation.

After brief introduction given by prof. Roman Kuźniar he welcomed the honourable guests: prof. Marek Belka, prof. Piotr Skubiszewski, Jan Jakub Michałek, prof. Witold Orłowski and Janusz Jankowiak. Then Director of the Institute of International Relation gave a speech before the prize in the “Krzysztof Skubiszewski Contest for the best master’s dissertation about polish foreign policy after 1945” were handed in.
Prof. dr hab. Piotr Skubiszewski, president of Krzysztof Skubiszewski Foundation awarded this prize to Przemysław Brzuszczak.

After the ceremony prof. Marek Belka (former Polish PM) gave a lecture about pros and cons of Poland being part of Eurozone. During his speech he highlited the role and importance of European Central Bank. In his opinion ECB is a guarantor and there are no chances that Eurozone will ever fall apart.

After valuable lecture participants had the opportinity to listen to panel discussion among: prof. Jan Jakub Michałek, prof. Witold Orłowski and Janusz Jankowiak moderated by prof. Roman Kuźniar. Every panelist gave fifteen minutes speech. They discussed aboout eurozone, problems with euro currency and the polish point of view.

At the end of the syposium there was a time for questions from audience. A lot of people asked panelists a questions and elaborated their point of view. The last part of the event was a summary and closing speech given by prof. Roman Kuźniar.
