Double Diploma with University of Haifa

Program description

Institute of International Relations, University of Warsaw, in cooperation with the Haifa University’s School of Political Sciences now offers a double-degree International Relations MA whereby students are able to make use of the resources, expertise and comprehensive curriculums of both universities, and receive accreditation from both at the completion of the course of study.

Institute of International Relations is a part of the biggest and best University in Poland. Established in 1972 it is now one of the 150 best study majors in the world according to Quacquarelli Symmonds World University Ranking. The Institute prides itself on the wide scope of international cooperation, offering the students rare opportunities of engagement with international guests and conferences. The Institute is engaged in teaching in all fields of the multidisciplinary field of international relations from regional studies to diplomacy and security studies and international trade.

The School of Political Sciences at the University of Haifa, established in 1972, offers students the resources and talent of one of Israel’s most prominent academic research centers that is engaged in teaching and scholarship in the fields of diplomacy studies, political thought, international relations, public policy, public administration, local administration, comparative and Israeli politics. The Division of International Relations was established in 2000 as part of the School of Political Sciences and plays an important role in training the future generation of researchers and practitioners in the field of International Relations.

What you will study

Students will spend two semesters of study at each institution and, including a written thesis, will cover a curriculum at Haifa University that has been crafted to elucidate the key role of diplomacy in addressing the broad cluster of issues that affect the Mediterranean and Middle East regions, and which can no longer be effectively dealt with exclusively from a narrow unilateral or bilateral vantage point.

The focus on the role of collaborative diplomatic mechanisms is designed to provide students with new insights, concepts and analytical tools for fully understanding the enhanced functions of diplomacy in an international setting. The program is thus intended to enable students to identify effective solutions for a broad range of political, cultural and economic issues with which they will be faced in the field. Students will also benefit from a broad curriculum at the University of Warsaw.

Admission requirements:

A B.A. degree in Political Science or International Relations from an accredited university in Israel or abroad. Prospective students must submit their diploma and transcripts. Students in other disciplines will be considered provided they complete the academic prerequisites.

  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA, 80% or equivalent
  • TOEFL scores (if native language is not English or candidates have not previously studied at an
  • institution of higher education where the language of instruction is English). A minimum of 570 (paper-based test); 230 (computer-based test) or 89 (internet-based test)
  • Curriculum Vitae/Résumé
  • Copy of valid passport & six passport-sized photos
  • Personal Essay (500-750 words)
  • Medical forms

Students who have not completed an undergraduate degree in International Relations or Political Science will be required to successfully complete the following introductory courses before the first semester of the program:

  • Introduction to International Relations
  • Introduction to Political Science/Government

Under certain circumstances, the committee may be willing to consider applicants who do not meet the minimal admissions requirements.

COST

For international students tuition is $5000 at Haifa University, and €3,500 at Warsaw University. The fee breakdown appears below:

OTHER Information

The thesis should be completed during the study period in Warsaw, The students will have supervisors from both University of Haifa and University of Warsaw with the M.A. thesis being written in English.

Scholarship Possibility

University of Haifa will each year evaluate students in the Double Diploma Programme as part of their scholarship scheme. The student could earn a scholarship as high as 5-10 thousand Israeli Shekles (around 1000-2000 euro) for a year.
