Inauguration for UPIR and GPIR students (28/09/2017)

On 28th of September 2017, in the hall of prof. J. Baszkiewicz in the Auditorium Building of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, the official inauguration of the academic year 2017/2018 was held. This event was directed at the students of programs taught in English at Institute of International Relations (Undergraduate and Graduate Programme in International Relations).

This year’s inauguration was a unique event, as it was held in the new building of the Faculty, officially opened by the Rector of the University of Warsaw the day before. The new students were welcomed by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty, Dr Justyna Godlewska-Szyrkowa and dr Dorota Heidrich, Deputy Director for Didactic Affairs of the Institute.

The new students took the oath and thus officially became part of the community of the University of Warsaw. After tha immatriculation they met with representatives of the Welcome Point, Collegium Polonicum and the University Office for Person with Disabilities. Thanks to the information presented by the guest speakers, the students could learn where they can look for support during their studies at the University and how they can participate in Polish language classes offered by Collegium Polonicum. The last part of the ceremony was led by the Institute’s Students’ Union, whose representatives have brought to the students’ attention the rules of study and simple practical information about living in Warsaw. The last element of the inauguration was signing of contracts and collecting the Student ID cards. After the official part of the event, the students were able to talk with their new colleagues over the refreshments.

Welcome to UW!
